PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project Management skills are applied to even the minor design efforts at TriAxial Design and Analysis with planning, requirements, tracking.  But for large-scale projects, or those benefiting from a dedicated project manager (PM), TriAxial can assist.  Our project manager resource (Mechanical Outsource) has lead over 25 major successful product development efforts over the last 15 years.  These projects span many industries, including military, commercial, medical and homeland security.

The PM can simultaneously manage the four basic elements of a project: resources, time, money, and most importantly, scope. All must be managed and balanced together if the project and the team are to be successful. When outsourced as part of a collaborative effort, we can manage and optimize these key elements for the participating organizations.

Our philosophy is that product development is an organizational endeavor rather than just a technical one.  It is also an organizational achievement when objectives are accomplished.  If it suits the customer, a concurrent engineering environment is adopted. All stakeholders are represented and empowered.  Performance and results are optimized.  Time to market is minimized.

With a focus on the goals, the PM guides the project to an approved plan with requirements, budget and a schedule.  Direction (i.e., bearings) is kept by maintaining constant communication.  We establish, maintain, and react to key performance metrics.  Risks are managed.  Management is kept informed, and we use proven techniques to keep the teams motivated and productive.

The tools used are Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.  Project management responsibilities and outputs include those shown in the table below.
