Radiographic Imaging
Customer Need:
We listened to the customer who had an immediate need to develop structure and enclosure for an outdoor imaging system. We were asked to package the X-ray system, primary power, and electronic control systems, and to integrate the HVAC system for this 50+ ton imaging machine. This subsystem had to be fully integrated with the detector tower and collimator design that were being developed by the customer.
Added Value:
Working with the design team TriAxial developed the mechanical systems from concept through manufacturing and test. Extreme effort was made to minimize and reduce footprint while providing an appealing, non-imposing appearance. Great effort was given to EMI considerations, structural tubing, sheet metal covers and access doors. Thermal study included specifying redundant cooling circuits. The first system was CE certified. TriAxial also provided wind loading analysis via FEA for structural and foundation design.
Result:
Our deliverable were an aesthetically pleasing, integrated subsystem. We were able to respond effectively to test results that required a late-in-the-game increase in the size required by radiation shielding tests. The design proved manufacturable , cost effective, and is fully in production today. Little has been revised since release. Customer satisfaction was high in the areas of response time and documentation. This led to future work on the next size system required by the CAARS contract.
